Meet Our Students

Melany is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at California State University, Long Beach. Inspired by her family’s sacrifices and her older sisters’ dreams of working in healthcare, she hopes to become the first in her family to earn a bachelor’s degree and build a career as a labor and delivery nurse.

Gustavo attends California State University, Los Angeles to pursue his interests in business management and entrepreneurship. After overcoming struggles with his confidence, he discovered his strength as a leader in JROTC and as a translator for his family and community. He hopes to build a career that allows him to lead, connect, and create opportunities for others.

Esthela is studying aerospace engineering at California State University, Long Beach. As founder and president of her high school’s Red Cross Club, she has organized blood and donation drives and delivered essential supplies to families in need. She hopes to use engineering to address challenges that affect communities around the world.

Jacqueline is attending University of California, Irvine studying biology and preparing for a career in nursing. Once a shy freshman, she found her voice through music and became drum major of her school’s marching band. She hopes to provide compassionate, equitable care and advocate for people in her community.

Beatriz is attending California State University, Long Beach to pursue a degree in education. Raised by her older sister after losing both parents, she found strength in service and joy in helping others. She hopes to become a teacher who creates safe and uplifting classrooms.

Daniel is pursuing engineering at California State University, Long Beach. After immigrating from Mexico, he faced language barriers and self-doubt but found purpose in mentoring others. He now supports ELD students in STEM and hopes to build a future through innovation and service.

Joe is studying political science at University of California, Los Angeles. As Senior Class President and a council member intern, he learned to lead with empathy and purpose. He hopes to become an entertainment lawyer who helps underrepresented communities share their stories and be heard.

Jackelin is currently enrolled at the Long Beach City College working towards a career in nursing. Her goal is to serve Spanish-speaking communities by providing compassionate, culturally responsive care. Motivated by her family’s experience navigating language barriers in the healthcare system, Jackelin is determined to become a nurse who leads with empathy, trust, and purpose.

Melanie is attending California State University, Long Beach with plans to earn a degree in forensic science. Her goal is to work alongside law enforcement to help solve crimes and bring justice to families in need. Motivated by her lived experience and a deep commitment to public safety, Melanie is determined to turn her education into lasting impact.

Sandra is pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the California State University, Long Beach with plans to become a geneticist. Her journey is marked by determination, self-discipline, and a deep commitment to personal growth. From overcoming the challenges of being labeled an English Learner to mastering advanced math through perseverance, Sandra has learned that success comes from believing in yourself.

Isis is pursuing her bachelor’s degree at University of California, Santa Cruz with plans to become a pediatric oncology nurse. Driven by a deep desire to support children and families during their most vulnerable moments, she brings empathy, focus, and care to everything she does. Her journey reflects a clear sense of purpose and a commitment to making a meaningful impact.

Kale is studying aerospace engineering at California State University, Long Beach, with a vision to shape the future of flight and innovation. A thoughtful problem-solver and avid learner, he excelled in physics, calculus, and engineering throughout high school. Kale’s curiosity, focus, and dedication to his craft continue to guide his path toward a career built on impact and ingenuity.

Neha is studying at California State University, Long Beach with plans to become a physician. Known for her quiet determination and strong sense of responsibility, she excelled academically while taking on leadership roles across campus. From AVID tutoring to her role as Vice President of the Environmental Club, Neha consistently led by example, balancing rigorous coursework with a commitment to her peers.

Rosemagali graduated from California State University, Long Beach in spring 2026, becoming the first JAR Family Foundation Scholarship recipient to graduate from college. Her milestone was celebrated at our 2026 Scholarship Luncheon, where we honored the discipline, resilience, and dedication that carried her from student athlete to college graduate. She plans to build a career in sports medicine rooted in service and compassion.
